The Art Center East's Image

Eastern Oregon Regional Arts Council DBA Art Center East, is a 501 (c) 3 non-profit organization headquartered in La Grande, OR, at 1006 Penn Ave., from a historic Carnegie Library.

Since its founding in 1977, Art Center East has developed and coordinated arts learning programs in rural schools and communities throughout our ten-county service area including Baker, Gilliam, Grant, Harney, Malheur, Morrow, Umatilla, Union, Wallowa, and Wheeler.

With the continuing decline in funding for arts education, our goal is to make our programs as affordable as possible.  This is accomplished through grant writing and our own fundraising efforts.  We deeply appreciate the continuing support of the funders and for the schools, parent’s groups and community organizations who support arts education in their schools.

Historically, Art Center East has been the source of information sharing and a resource for fostering the growth of rural arts and cultural organizations.  Past projects have included professional development workshops for artists and teachers and a performing arts series. We aim to meet the growing arts-needs of our local and regional communities by providing essential arts services for professional and emerging artists, a professional venue for rotating art exhibits, a creative space for homeschool students as well as youth and adults, and a venue for our program partners for movement and wellness classes.
