The Spirit of the Western Frontier is alive in Oregon’s Baker, Grant, Harney & Union Counties.
Baker, Grant, Harney and Union counties cover nearly 20,000 square miles of Eastern Oregon, more ground than nine U.S. states. The land runs from the Blue and Wallowa mountains to the high desert around Burns, and much of it belongs to all of us. More than 60% of Grant County is public land. Families here ski Anthony Lakes in winter, fish the John Day and Powder rivers in summer, and hunt, hike and ride the country in between.
Our towns are small, and they work. Baker City keeps its historic Main Street busy. La Grande is home to Eastern Oregon University. John Day and Burns anchor ranch country that runs for miles. People come for the outdoors and stay because they know the person behind the counter.
Oregon Trail Electric Cooperative has powered this corner of Oregon since 1988. We belong to the over 23,000 member-owners we serve, and economic development is part of the same job. If you are moving here or building here, start with us. We will connect you with relocation information, available sites, local and state incentives, and the people in each county who make projects happen.
